NEW SIGNS
The news signs are almost ready for erection on the seafront, and will contain information about history, wildlife and beach safety.
SCULPTURES
We have received a grant for some sculptures on the seafront that illustrate the history and wildlife of the area. We are at an early stage in the planning, but it is going to happen!
PLAYGROUND
There have been many complaints about the children's playground. Now we are happy to report that there are plans for a new adventure playground to be constructed. Materials have been ordered and work should start soon.
GARDEN PROJECT
We are glad to report that Breathing Spaces has promised us an award of just under £10,000 to create our community garden and organic farming project. Once we have received planning permission, we hope to swing into action. We hope this will be a facility which the whole community can own, and that it will enhance our life.
COMMITTEE
The next meeting of the Millisle Community Association Committee will take place on Monday, 25th Aug same time and place.
NEW WEBSITE
The Council has given us a free website. As yet we have not put anything on it: it would be hard to match Stephen's excellent job in maintaining the parent site. The new website address is www.millisle.ca.scni.biz
Don't expect to find any content until well into July, at least.
HAVE-A-MOAN
Our next Open meeting, scheduled for 29 September, will take the form of a 'have-a-moan evening. If you have any grumbles about local affairs, this is the place to air them. Lady Hermon and Peter Weir have promised to attend.
